The leadership diagnostic test that was taken in class may give some insight to a persons disposition but it also tends to be a bit bias. When individuals take such test they are prone to answer the questions in a manner that would portray them in a favorable light. Now I ask myself did I in fact answer the questions from the viewpoint of watching myself in action, or do my replies reflect how I would see myself in the management position. I believe I answered them as someone standing outside of the box watching me perform my duties. With all that said, I can say that the test was correct in guaging me as being high conscientiousness, low steadiness.
If I could change it, I would prefer for there to be an equal balance amongst the two. Being too conscientious can cause a great deal of stress in ones life, on the job and off. You're always checking to make sure everything is correct, in its place, worrying about things you have no control of . I think that if it was a little higher on the steadiness, I wouldn't mind working in groups, I would have a little more patience. Maybe even be a little more laid back.
Do I believe that a test like this will help outside of the work environment, I would say no.
I believe that the only way to really get to know someone is by direct interaction with them. As I mentioned earlier, I don't believe that people are totally honest when taking these sort of evaluative test. Also, all people don't act the same from one environment to the other. Some may be a domineering manager on the job and when they get home their such a wuss, or the other way around. People react differently in different situations. From my experience in the workplace, a lot of bossy bosses, not saying all, have no control at home, some of the laid back bosses, when they get home, can be such control freaks. My belief is that the test may give you a glimpse of the individual, but until you deal directly with them theres no way to know.

Yes, I happen to agree with you. These tests aren't as accurate as they might seem. You cant really know a person well enough without interacting with them because people act differently in different situations. I also think it would be nice to have a balance in each diagnostic category which would make you an overall well rounded person.
I absolutely agree! To me the test can be manipulated even though we did not know what the letters corresponding to the words meant, we basically knew what the words meant (positive/negative) and could have just choice ones that would be highly positive characteristics to have. Just like in an interview, I’ve been taught if they ask you for something you don't like about yourself to answer them with something that's positive but just "act" like it's something you don't like. It really is all about manipulation!
I however did not do this when taking the test. I really wanted to know what the results would be and see if there was something I truly would learn about myself. However i started out applying the words to my work environment and then switched and applied it to my personal life, since that was #1 in my mind. :-)

I agree that the test may not be a 100% accurate, however, I do not think that people answer them in a way that puts them under a favorable light. If this test is given at a job application, sure may be true. But if is like we took it in class, why lie? I am currencty taking Industrial/Organizational physchology, and we are learning about various tests and how accurate they are. Some are designed so the test taker can not really lie about the answers. Some, however, are very easy to lie about. The most favorable method of hiring for a job is said to be interviews. Even though they take time out of the employer's daily activities, they are very accurate. The employer can get a sence of how the person is.
Hola!
The personality test was a great experience. As you, I learned a lot of my self even though I had taking this evaluation tests before but I was never explain neither told the end result like we did in class. I am glad that you have totally found yourself as I did.
