management issue

I have a manager that has a bad habit of turning his workers timecards in late. It has been bought to his attention that this delay on his part is having people checks held by timekeeping. Yet he continues this practice. The only alternatives we have is to go to his boss, go to the union with this issue, or wait it out for the next three months when we can move to another department.
The problem is, this manager is the same one we have to go to get days off. In order for one to get time off he must approve it first. As I see it we're caught between a rock and a hard place. If we go to his boss, or the union about this issue, we could get on his bad side. If we get on his bad side then believe me there is going to be repercussions. My conclusion would be to wait it out for the next three months and hope my check is there when it should be.

Hi, we seem to have similar problems. I also have some one in my job that is incompetent at what he does but in the end you he is in a managerial position and you are not. Please read my blog at "imanaginations". My bit of suggestion would be that you cope with this situation and try to circumvent his procedures because in the end his actions will come to bear on the overall performance of your place of work. Upper managanemt will have to deal with that person. My question, though, do you not have anyone that can implement proper procedure? Seek that person out.
